Inside-Out Burger


Inside this spectacular burger is a delicious secret waiting to be discovered! We add a hearty helping of exotic Mexican Baja Chipotle Sauce -- rich with tomatoes and fresh spices -- to minced garlic, cool coriander and ground black peppercorns. This grilled lean ground beef patty contains hidden, mouth-watering Gorgonzola cheese inside. Every bite is an explosion of flavour.


YIELD: 8 Burgers


Ingredients: Imperial Metric
Ground beef, lean 3 lbs 1.5 kg
Spanish onions, finely diced 1 cup 250 mL
Saucemaker Mexican Baja Chipotle Sauce 2/3 cup 150 mL
Coriander, fresh, finely chopped 1 bunch 1 bunch
Garlic, minced 4 cloves 4 cloves
Black peppercorns, ground 1 Tbsp 15 mL
Salt 1 tsp 5 mL
Olive oil, extra virgin 1/4 cup 50 mL
Gorgonzola cheese, 2 oz (57 g) pieces 1 lb 500 g
Large hamburger buns, halved 8 8
Tomato 8 slices 8 slices
Frisee lettuce 8 leaves 8 leaves

Method:

  1. Combine beef, onion, Saucemaker Mexican Baja Chipotle Sauce, coriander, garlic, pepper, salt and oil. Shape into 8 patties.
  2. Enclose a piece of cheese in the centre of each patty. Chill
  3. Grill to an internal temperature of 165F (71C), or until well done and no longer pink inside.
  4. Serve on buns with sliced tomato and frisee lettuce.

TIP: Try a unique side dish deep fried yam. Cut and deep fry yam as you would french fried potatoes.
